Job description

Synergy Medical are looking for a confident and hard-working Band 2 Healthcare Assistant, who is looking to work with military personnel in our new Ministry of Defence contract. We are looking for flexible and adaptable HCA’s with a proactive approach in Winchester, for a block booking on weekday day shifts.

About the role:

You will join and become part of a multidisciplinary team, working in well equipped medical centres or rehabilitation units where you will be valued as part of the Defence Medical Services team. You will need to deliver a professional and personal service at all times, to deliver an exceptional standard of care for service personnel and their families.

Successful applicants will require:

  • Relevant experience and qualifications in the UK, for the role you're applying for. (Needs to be over 6-months)
  • NVQ in Health and Social care or a full Care Certificate
  • Certificate in Performing Venepuncture
  • Undertaking simple dressing procedures
  • Using aseptic technique
  • Clean DBS registered online
  • Performing and recording Audiograms
  • Ability to get references to cover the last 3-year period
  • Proof of immunisations (Including Hepatitis B)

Mandatory training required include:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS),
  • Automated External Defibrillator (AED),
  • Infection Prevention and Control (IPC)
  • Safeguarding Children and Young People and Vulnerable Adults Level 2 training
  • Performing urinalysis
  • Preparation of specimens
  • Recording ECGs


  • To be able to provide general basic nursing care under indirect supervision of the practice nurse team, undertaking tasks and duties delegated by a suitably qualified regulated professional.
  • To be able to provide clinical administrative support as required.
  • To be able to work collaboratively with the general practice team to meet the needs of patients, following policy and procedures alongside nurses and administrative staff in the service and delivery of the care management of the practice population.
  • To be able to assist the Medical Officer’s (MOs) and practice nurse teams within Primary Health Care clinics, Occupational Health assessment clinics, chronic disease clinics, health promotion.
  • To be able to provide a range of clinical measurements, visual acuity, Electrocardiogram (ECG), venepuncture, peak flow readings, spirometry, urinalysis and preparation of specimens for investigation.
  • To be able to communicate effectively, with patients in specific clinical situations.
